    • To evaluate the safety and efficacy of this simplified method in patients undergoing low rectal resection for cancer.

    • A simplified loop ileostomy technique was employed in 33 patients.
    • Key features include a smaller skin incision, fixation at the skin level without mucosal eversion, and no supporting rod.
    • Reversal involves resection of thickened margins and enterorrhaphy, avoiding median laparotomy.

    • No cases of peristomal abscess, bleeding, prolapse, or loop retraction were observed.
    • Complications included peristomal dermatitis (12.12%), high output fluid losses (15.62%), and incisional hernia (12.12%).

    • The simplified loop ileostomy is a safe, fast, and effective technique for temporary fecal diversion.
    • It offers a direct approach with a favorable complication profile for patients undergoing low rectal resection.
