Summary

Two volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) techniques were compared for breast cancer. A two-arc technique slightly improved organ sparing, with minor differences in target coverage and homogeneity.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare the treatment plan quality of two VMAT techniques for lymph node-positive left-sided breast cancer.
  • To evaluate dose distribution and organ-at-risk (OAR) sparing for each technique.

Main Methods:

  • Two VMAT techniques were planned for 10 patients: single-arc VMAT (1s-VMAT) and two-arc VMAT (2s-VMAT).
  • Plan quality was assessed using dose and dose-volume metrics for target volumes and OARs.
