Lower ejection fraction (EF) and borderline EF (41-49%) are linked to worse outcomes in patients with cardioembolic stroke (CES). Echocardiography can help predict prognosis in CES patients, including those with atrial fibrillation (AF).

- Reduced EF (≤40%) was linked to significantly higher mortality (HR 2.61), and borderline EF (41-49%) showed a trend towards higher mortality (HR 1.65, p=0.067) compared to normal EF.

- Echocardiographic assessment of EF is valuable for predicting prognosis in CES patients, including those with atrial fibrillation (AF).
