Epidermal stem cells (EpiSCs) are mainly located at the basal layer of the epidermis. These cells repair minor injuries of the skin and replace dead skin cells. Summary

This study shows that a transconjunctival approach for lower eyelid epiblepharon repair effectively resolves keratitis and cilia-cornea touch without scarring. This scarless technique offers excellent cosmetic outcomes for patients.

  • To document the efficacy and outcomes of a transconjunctival approach for lower eyelid epiblepharon repair.
  • To evaluate the safety and cosmetic results of this minimally invasive technique.

  • Retrospective chart review of patients undergoing transconjunctival lower eyelid epiblepharon repair.
  • Analysis of postoperative resolution of symptoms and complications.

  • Nine patients were included in the review.
  • All patients achieved resolution of keratitis and cilia-cornea touch within 3 months.
  • No postoperative complications or cutaneous scarring were observed.
