Partial agenesis of corpus callosum--case study.

    Summary

    Prenatal diagnosis identified partial agenesis of the corpus callosum in a fetus. This isolated finding, detected via ultrasonography, was not linked to other developmental or genetic abnormalities.

    Background:

    • Agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC) is a rare congenital brain malformation.
    • Etiology is often unknown, but ACC can associate with other brain and organ anomalies, and chromosomal defects.

    Observation:

    • This study presents a case of partial agenesis of the posterior corpus callosum.
    • The anomaly was detected prenatally at 33 weeks gestation using ultrasonography.

    Findings:

    • The diagnosed partial agenesis of the corpus callosum was an isolated finding.
    • No other fetal morphological anomalies, chromosome aberrations, or genetic defects were identified.

    Implications:

    • Early prenatal diagnosis of isolated agenesis of the corpus callosum is crucial.
