Summary

The cost of robot-assisted hysterectomy decreases with higher procedure volume for both benign conditions and cancer. However, robotic surgery remains more expensive than traditional laparoscopy, regardless of volume.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze the impact of procedure volume, hospital accounting, and analytic methods on the cost of robot-assisted hysterectomy.
  • To compare costs between robot-assisted and laparoscopic hysterectomy for benign and malignant gynecologic conditions.

  • Despite volume-related cost reductions, robot-assisted hysterectomy remains substantially more expensive than laparoscopic hysterectomy.
