ALDH expression characterizes G1-phase proliferating beta cells during pregnancy.

Aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) activity, measured by Aldefluor fluorescence, increases in pancreatic beta cells during pregnancy. These Aldefluor-positive cells activate ALDH in G1 phase, offering a new way to study proliferating beta cells.
