Acute renal failure according to the RIFLE and AKIN criteria: a multicenter study.

This study found that the RIFLE criteria identified more cases of acute renal failure (ARF) in critically ill patients than AKIN. Urinary criteria (UC) were more effective than creatinine criteria (CC) for detecting ARF, which correlated with higher mortality.
