Intravitreal dexamethasone implant for acute exudative polymorphous vitelliform maculopathy

Intravitreal dexamethasone implant did not alter the course of acute exudative polymorphous vitelliform maculopathy (AEPVM). This study suggests corticosteroids may be ineffective for treating AEPVM.

- A 28-year-old male with AEPVM received an intravitreal dexamethasone implant in his left eye.
Findings:
- The intravitreal dexamethasone implant did not significantly change the clinical progression of AEPVM compared to the untreated eye.
- No complications related to the intravitreal implant were observed during the follow-up period.
Implications:
- The lack of response suggests intravitreal corticosteroids may not be an effective treatment for AEPVM.
- Further research is needed to determine optimal therapeutic strategies for this rare retinal disorder.
