[Isolation of Yersinia enterocolitica in various conditions of cultivation]
Abstract:
The rates of Yersinia isolation from 156 samples of pathologic material cultivated by two methods, the routine one, with the selection of Yersinia from a microbial association by prolonged cooling of the examined material in slightly alkaline buffer and multiple inoculations into Endo's medium, and the technique suggested by the authors--a rapid method based on the treatment of the biologic material with a concentrated alkaline-salt mixture at 4 degrees C for 2 days and a single inoculation into inhibiting selective medium. Use of the rapid method has increased the isolation rate of Yersinia 4-fold, cut down the time of the investigation 2-3-fold, reduced the cost and simplified the technique of analysis.
