[Detection of unstable hemoglobins with the use of normal butyl alcohol]
Abstract:
A new screening method for the detection of unstable hemoglobin carriership is suggested, whose characteristic feature is the use of microquantities of red cells, and not of red cell hemolysate; the red cells are added to the specially prepared mixture, 6.5-5.5% by n-butanol volume in phosphate buffer at 18-25 degrees C. Unstable hemoglobin carriership is recorded during 0.5-1 hour from the examined solution turbidity or by measuring the dispersion at 700 nm vs. the transparent control.
