Because of the permanently increasing demand for factor VIII this is of eminent importance. In addition, the introduction of affinity adsorption steps using monoclonal anti factor VIII antibody columns for purification at the same time result in lowered yields of factor VIII. Taken together, these quantitative problems might lead to collapses on the factor VIII market.
