Abstract:
A case of metaphyseal cupping of bone that probably occurred as the result of an impaired blood supply to the leg of an infant is reported. Avascularity and premature closure of the central segment of the growth plate is the proposed pathogenesis. The blood supply, growth and development of the ends of growing bones are discussed and the radiographie features of metaphyseal cupping are described.
