Cellular fibronectin RNA levels in blood fibrocytes can help distinguish between Hepatitis C virus (HCV) fibrosis and cirrhosis, though APRI and FIB-4 scores show better diagnostic performance. This marker can differentiate between fibrotic and cirrhotic HCV liver disease and normal liver tissue.

- While not superior to existing scores, fibronectin may serve as a complementary biomarker in HCV liver disease assessment.
