Background:

Cutaneous and systemic plasmacytosis are rare disorders of unknown cause.
They are characterized by red-brown skin lesions and plasma cell infiltration in the dermis.
Perineural plasma cell infiltrates may indicate cutaneous plasmacytosis.

Purpose of the Study:

To diagnose and treat a patient with cutaneous plasmacytosis.
To evaluate the efficacy of bortezomib for managing cutaneous plasmacytosis-related skin lesions.

Main Methods:

Histologic examination of skin biopsy.
Analysis of plasma cell infiltrate and light chain expression (lambda).
Treatment with bortezomib chemotherapy.

Main Results:

The patient presented with a five-year history of persistent reddish-brown plaques on the neck and trunk.
Histopathology revealed dermal perivascular and perineural plasma cells with excess lambda light chain expression.
Bortezomib therapy led to the management of the patient's skin eruption.

Conclusions:

The patient was diagnosed with cutaneous plasmacytosis based on histopathology, including perineural involvement.
Bortezomib therapy was initiated for symptom management.
This represents a previously undescribed treatment for this chronic condition.
