McNemar's Test

McNemar's Test is a nonparametric statistical test used to determine if there is a significant difference in proportions between two related groups when the outcome is binary (e.g., yes/no, success/failure). It is beneficial when we have paired data, such as pre-test/post-test designs, where the same subjects are measured under two different conditions. Context:

Lack of validated, sport-specific complex tests in handball.
Need to establish intraobserver reliability (IR) for existing tests.
Current handball performance metrics may not be comprehensive.

Purpose:

To determine the intraobserver reliability (IR) of the Handball-specific complex test (HBKT).
To assess the reliability of stress and loading parameters within the HBKT.
To provide a benchmark for sport-specific test development.

Summary:

The Handball-specific complex test (HBKT) showed sufficient intraobserver reliability (IR), with an average ICC of 0.67 and CV of 11.3%.
Excluding parameters like missed throws and technical errors significantly improved IR (ICC to 0.72, CV to 6.3%).
Heart rate monitoring proved more reliable than lactate measurements for stress parameters.

Impact:

The HBKT provides a reliable tool for assessing handball player performance.
Recommendations for parameter inclusion/exclusion in statistical analysis are provided.
The HBKT serves as a model for developing similar sport-specific tests in other team sports.
