Summary

Self-retaining bidirectional barbed absorbable sutures (SRBS) are safe and feasible for retroperitoneoscopic partial nephrectomy. This method significantly reduces suture time, warm ischemia time, and blood loss, improving surgical outcomes.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the safety and feasibility of using self-retaining bidirectional barbed absorbable sutures (SRBS) in RPN.

  • A retrospective analysis of 76 RPN cases from September 2011 to August 2012.
  • Patients were divided into two groups: SRBS (n=36) and non-SRBS (n=40).
