Plasma levels of N-acetyl-seryl-aspartyl-lysyl-proline (AcSDKP), an inhibitor of stem cell proliferation, decrease after kidney transplantation as renal function improves. This suggests AcSDKP levels are largely dependent on kidney function in end-stage renal disease patients.
