Characterizing parameters of response to light intensity for six species of frogs

Abstract:
A comparative study was made to characterize differences in intensity response by six anuran species: Hyla cinerea, Hyla gratiosa, Rana catesbeiana, Rana sylvatica, Kassina senegalensis, and Leptodactylus pentadactylus. Considering the sigmoid Intensity/Response curve to represent a cumulative Gaussian distribution gave a very good fit to the data, for both dark- and light-adapted animals. Characterizing parameters from the regression to transformed data gave good distinctions between the species for both adaptational states.
