Sexual attitudes of the adolescent in Japan today

Over the last ten years, Japan has witnessed a two-fold increase in the number of surgical abortions among the teenage population. The increase in teenage sexual activity indicated by this trend has been a source of much concern and study. The accelerated social change going on in Japan over the last century has produced a series of contrasting generations, each differing in social attitudes from its predecessor. In order to elucidate the current sexual attitudes of Japanese adolescents, we will present extracts from four surveys. Finally, we "tally the results" with regard to statistical findings together with their potential and likely implications.
