The effects of aging on the brain activation pattern during a speech perception task: an fMRI study

As the brain ages, speech perception processing shows changes in brain activity and laterality, even though the same brain areas are engaged across all age groups. Older adults exhibit a shift from left to right-lateralized brain activity.
