    Summary

We developed a cost-effective optical frequency comb (OFC) generator using a dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator (DP-MZM) and a single radio frequency (RF) signal. This method achieved precise five- and seven-tone OFC generation with excellent flatness.

    • Signal Generation and Modulation

    Background:

    • Optical frequency combs (OFCs) are crucial for precise frequency metrology and spectroscopy.
    • Existing OFC generation methods often require complex setups and multiple components.
    • Developing cost-effective and simplified OFC generators is essential for broader applications.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To propose and demonstrate a simple, cost-effective ultra-flat optical frequency comb (OFC) generator.
    • To achieve precise control over the intensity and flatness of generated OFC tones.
    • To validate theoretical predictions with experimental results.

    Main Methods:

    • Directly modulating a standalone dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator (DP-MZM) with a single radio frequency (RF) signal.
    • Utilizing a DP-MZM modulation model to derive equations for parameter calculation.
