Summary

This study presents a rare case of simultaneous bilateral occipital dermoid cysts in a 75-year-old woman. Surgical excision of the larger cyst was performed, highlighting the rarity of these posterior head dermoid tumors.

  • Dermoid and epidermoid cysts originate from developmental anomalies involving ectodermal elements.

  • The larger right-sided cyst was surgically excised via direct skin incision.
  • A smaller left-sided cyst was managed conservatively through observation.

Findings:

  • The co-occurrence of bilateral occipital dermoid cysts has not been previously documented in medical literature.
  • This case underscores the potential for rare presentations of congenital ectodermal cysts.
