  • Fifteen women had WCCs above 25.3 × 10(9)/L without severe sepsis, indicating a higher physiological limit during labor.

Conclusions:

  • Two distinct WCC normal ranges have been established for term pregnancy: one for laboring and one for non-laboring women.
  • These ranges will assist clinicians in accurately identifying normal and abnormal WCC values, potentially reducing misdiagnosis of sepsis.
