Background:

  • Accurate assessment of fall risk is crucial for managing PD patients.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the correlation between pull-test (PT) scores and the occurrence of falls in Parkinson's disease patients.
  • To determine the reliability of the PT in assessing fall risk and postural instability.

Main Methods:

  • A cohort of 264 Parkinson's disease patients underwent standardized data collection.
  • Demographic, clinical data, and Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) scores for falls and PT were recorded.
  • Patients with fall scores >1 were classified as frequent fallers.

Main Results:

  • A significant positive linear relationship was observed between increased PT scores and a higher proportion of frequent fallers.
  • Higher PT scores were also significantly associated with worse UPDRS fall scores.
  • The PT demonstrated excellent sensibility and negative predictive value for abnormal scores, with improving specificity and positive predictive value for worse scores.
