Background:

Traditional deepithelialization methods are often time-consuming and labor-intensive.
The VersaJet Hydrosurgery System is recognized for efficient soft tissue debridement.

Observation:

The VersaJet Hydrosurgery System was employed for flap deepithelialization in gluteus maximus myocutaneous V-Y advancement flaps.
Six flaps in three patients were analyzed for operative time and histological outcomes.

Findings:

Mean operative time savings of 12 minutes were observed with VersaJet deepithelialization.
Gross examination revealed a significantly more even and regular flap surface using VersaJet.
Histological analysis indicated thicker preserved papillary dermis with more skin appendages compared to scalpel debridement.
No adverse events such as infection, epidermal cysts, or hematomas were reported.
