Summary

Trauma-induced thyroid storm is a rare complication of neck trauma, such as hanging. Prompt diagnosis and traditional hyperthyroid treatments can effectively manage this condition.

  • Persistent hypertension, tachycardia, and agitation were noted despite sedation.
  • Thyroid function tests revealed progressive thyrotoxicosis.

Findings:

  • Imaging indicated thyroid inflammation due to traumatic pressure from hanging.
  • The patient was diagnosed with trauma-induced thyroid storm.
  • Treatment with beta-blockers and a thionamide resolved the condition.
