Patient referral and the physiotherapist
1Department of Physiotherapy, University of Queensland.
Abstract:
In a radio interview earlier this year a chiropractor was asked: "What do you see as the role of physiotherapists?" His answer was interesting. "The physiotherapist is basically a second string practitioner. He is not a first contact practitioner; he doesn't directly contact the patient; he must go through the medical profession; and we feel that the physiotherapist could be used in a similar fashion by the chiropractor to provide massage and passive mobilization for the patient."(2.)
