Objective:
To investigate the expression of miR-224 in diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and its relationship with clinical pathological features and prognosis.
Methods:
Real-time PCR was used to detect the expression of miR-224 in 168 DLBCL and 25 normal lymphoid tissues.
Results:
The expression of miR-224 in DLBCL (0.97 ± 0.33) was significantly lower than that in normal lymphoid tissues (1.87 ± 0.43, P<0.05). There were no significant correlations between the miR-224 expression and age (P=0.434), gender (P=0.613) tumors stage (P=0.250), IPI (P=0.355) and lactate dehydrogenase (P=0.398). Using the median of miRNA-224 expression as threshold, we subdivided patients into low and high expression group. The five-year progression-free survival and overall survival were significantly lower in low expression group as compared to those in high expression group.
Conclusion:
miR-224 expression may play an important role in the development and progression of DLBCL and could be prognostic significance.
