Summary

Urinary-type plasminogen activator (u-PA) increased in digestive tract cancers, while tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) rose in plasma for uterine and ovarian cancers. These findings highlight distinct roles of PAs in different cancer types.

Background:

  • Plasminogen activators (PAs) convert plasminogen to plasmin.
  • Two main types exist: tissue-type PA (t-PA) and urinary-type PA (u-PA).
  • PAs are implicated in tumor growth via cell stimulation or collagen degradation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To measure t-PA and u-PA concentrations in cancer patients.
  • To investigate the differential roles of t-PA and u-PA in various cancers.

  • Quantification of t-PA and u-PA levels.
  • Analysis of samples from patients with digestive tract, uterine, and ovarian cancers (plasma, urine, tumor tissues).
