    Summary

    Intestinal trichomonads are rare in true bugs (Heteroptera). However, two of three identified flagellates were reptile-specific, suggesting potential transmission between these hosts.

    • Insect hindguts are known reservoirs for intestinal trichomonads, but their diversity remains largely unexplored.

    • To investigate the presence, abundance, and diversity of intestinal trichomonads in true bugs.
    • To identify trichomonad species found in true bugs and assess their host specificity.
