Area of Science:

  • Oncology
  • Radiology
  • Surgical Oncology

Background:

  • Fibroadenomas are the most common benign breast tumors in women, particularly in their second and third decades of life.
  • They represent a significant proportion of breast biopsies, especially in younger women.
  • Fibroadenomas typically present as painless, palpable masses with no associated risk of malignancy.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and patient outcomes of ultrasound-guided cryoablation for breast fibroadenomas.
  • To present cryosurgery as a definitive, non-surgical therapeutic option for fibroadenomas.

Main Methods:

  • Utilizing ultrasound-guided cryoablation for targeted treatment of breast fibroadenomas.
  • Assessing lesion size reduction or elimination, pain levels, scarring, cosmetic outcomes, and patient satisfaction.

Main Results:

  • Cryoablation resulted in minimal to no pain for patients.
  • Targeted fibroadenoma lesions were effectively reduced in size or completely eliminated.
  • The procedure yielded minimal scarring and outstanding cosmetic results, leading to high patient satisfaction.

Conclusions:

  • Ultrasound-guided cryoablation is a highly effective and well-tolerated treatment for breast fibroadenomas.
  • This minimally invasive technique offers excellent cosmetic outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Cryosurgery is a preferred option for patients seeking definitive fibroadenoma treatment without surgical intervention.
