Smoking habits of elderly diabetic patients
Abstract:
The results of a survey of smoking habits in elderly diabetic patients are presented. Our survey suggests that most elderly diabetics are non-smokers and that the latter group are less likely to require insulin than their smoking counterparts. The majority of patients who gave up smoking following the diagnosis of diabetes did so following their doctor's advice and we suggest that all diabetic patients should be discouraged from smoking by their doctors.
