  • Anaesthetists who used read-back were 8.27 times more likely to recall information accurately (p<0.001).
  • Anaesthetists who provided any verbal response (including read-back) were 3.16 times more likely to know the information compared to no verbal response (p=0.03).

Conclusions:

  • Training healthcare teams in read-back techniques can enhance inter-team information transfer.
  • Improved information transfer holds potential for enhancing patient safety.
  • Further research is recommended to validate these findings.
