Summary

Primary breast sarcomas, rare cancers originating in breast connective tissue, represent less than 1% of breast malignancies. Angiosarcomas, a specific type, arise from blood vessels and are often secondary to prior breast cancer treatments.

Background:

Primary breast sarcomas are rare malignant tumors originating from mesenchymal breast tissue, accounting for less than 1% of all breast cancer cases.
Angiosarcomas are uncommon malignant tumors arising from vascular endothelial cells.
Most angiosarcomas are secondary to breast cancer radiotherapy or arm lymphedema post-mastectomy, with primary forms being exceedingly rare.

Purpose of the Study:

To define the characteristics and incidence of primary breast sarcomas.
To differentiate primary angiosarcomas from secondary forms.
To highlight the rarity of primary angiosarcomas within malignant breast tumors.

Review of epidemiological data on breast tumors.
