Literature search conducted on Science Direct and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases.
Bibliometric analysis to identify research trends and gaps.
Review of existing studies on acupuncture techniques and parameters.

Main Results:

A significant lack of focus on acupuncture insertion depth was identified across databases.
Current research trends do not adequately address the depth of acupuncture needling.
International collaboration is needed, as suggested by cross-database comparisons.

Conclusions:
