Summary

Computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) offers accurate maxillofacial reconstructions. This technique is beneficial for both complex and simpler bony structure reconstructions, improving anatomical accuracy.

  • Case 3: Palatine defect reconstruction using a double-barrelled fibula flap and radial forearm flap.

Findings:

  • CAD/CAM provides accurate anatomical shaping of bone grafts.
  • Adjacent structures can be effectively repositioned using CAD/CAM.
  • The technique is applicable to a range of case complexities.

Implications:

  • CAD/CAM is a valuable tool for maxillofacial reconstruction beyond complex cases.
  • This technology enhances precision in achieving desired anatomical outcomes.
  • Further evidence-based studies are warranted to refine CAD/CAM application guidelines.
