Prolactin affects bovine oocytes through direct and cumulus-mediated pathways

Prolactin (PRL) directly influences bovine oocyte maturation by retarding meiosis, a process mediated by tyrosine kinases and nitric oxide synthase. PRL enhances oocyte developmental capacity through cumulus cells expressing PRL receptors.
