Summary

Preoperative blood transfusions induce donor-specific suppressor cells, prolonging kidney allograft survival in rats. These suppressor cells, found in lymph nodes and thoracic duct lymph, are detectable both in vivo and in vitro, demonstrating their role in transplant tolerance.
