Summary

This case study highlights successful early diagnosis and surgical repair of complex wrist injuries, including scapholunate dissociation, in a professional pianist. Prompt treatment and rehabilitation led to excellent functional recovery.

Background:

Carpal fracture-dislocation with distal radius fractures is a rare and challenging wrist injury.
High-functioning individuals often face a poor prognosis with such complex trauma.
Accurate diagnosis and treatment are critical for optimal patient outcomes.

Observation:

A 39-year-old professional pianist sustained scapholunate dissociation and joint capsule tear alongside radial styloid and triquetral fractures.
The injury presented unique diagnostic and management challenges due to the combination of fractures.
No similar case studies were found due to the specific constellation of associated fractures.

Findings:

Early diagnosis was achieved through comprehensive clinical assessment and instrumental imaging.
