Negative predictive value of drug provocation tests in children

The drug provocation test has a high negative predictive value in children, but a negative result does not always mean the child can tolerate the drug. Further evaluation is sometimes needed.

Conclusions:
- Drug provocation testing demonstrates a substantial negative predictive value in children.
- However, a negative DPT result should not definitively rule out the possibility of a future allergic reaction upon drug re-exposure.
