Imbalanced kynurenine pathway in schizophrenia

Schizophrenia may involve an imbalanced kynurenine pathway, with higher kynurenic acid (KYNA) and lower quinolinic acid (QUIN) production. This study found lower QUIN/KYNA ratios in patients, supporting this imbalance in schizophrenia pathophysiology.
