Background:

Acellular dermal matrices (ADMs) are used in breast implant surgery, but their long-term fate is not well understood.
Revision breast reconstruction often involves ADMs to improve outcomes and manage complications.

Observation:

A case study analyzed AlloDerm, an ADM, 12 years after its use in revision breast reconstruction.
Tissue analysis was performed to evaluate the graft's condition and host tissue response.

Findings:

The AlloDerm graft demonstrated significant retention of its original volume over 12 years.
Histological examination revealed organized collagen structure and successful integration with host tissues.
Minimal fibrous capsule formation and little to no evidence of chronic inflammation were observed.
