Abstract:
In this brief review, the most relevant points of the history of calcium-antagonists are described including their use in Chinese medicine. The mechanism of action on the heart and peripheral vessels is also reported. Finally, the therapeutic use of calcium antagonists in arterial hypertension is discussed.
