Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is a type of cancer that occurs when there is an abnormal growth of skin cells, usually triggered by damage to the DNA within the skin cells. It is primarily caused by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or artificial sources like tanning beds. Background:

Ameloblastomas are common odontogenic tumors, but the desmoplastic variant is exceptionally rare.
Limited case reports exist for desmoplastic ameloblastoma, hindering accurate incidence data.

Observation:

An elderly male patient presented with a noticeable swelling in the anterior mandible.
Clinical and radiographic examination suggested a neoplastic process.

Findings:

Histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of desmoplastic ameloblastoma.
This rare subtype is characterized by prominent stromal desmoplasia.

Implications:

Accurate diagnosis and reporting of desmoplastic ameloblastoma are essential for epidemiological studies.
Increased awareness may improve early detection and management of this rare odontogenic tumor.
