  • Prospective recording and comparison of cuff pressures pre- and post-training using Chi-square test.

Main Results:

  • Pre-training: Inappropriate cuff pressures were 9.2% (morning), 11.9% (afternoon), and 13.7% (evening-night).
  • Post-training: Inappropriate cuff pressures reduced to 7.6% (morning), 4.1% (afternoon), and 5.2% (evening-night).
  • Significant reductions observed in afternoon and evening-night shifts (p<0.001).

Conclusions:

  • Nursing team training effectively improved awareness of inadequate cuff pressure harms.
  • The training resulted in safer endotracheal tube cuff pressure levels.
  • Enhanced training protocols contribute to improved patient safety and reduced tracheal injury.
