Summary

Young athletes experiencing groin pain often face diagnostic challenges due to diverse causes. Accurate diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment of sports-related groin injuries.

  • Groin pain is a frequent complaint among young athletes, leading to substantial sports participation interruptions.
  • The differential diagnosis for groin pain is extensive, including both acute and chronic conditions, complicating accurate diagnosis.

  • Three young athletes presented with similar symptoms of sports-related groin pain.
  • Despite similar initial complaints, investigations revealed three distinct diagnoses: sportsman's hernia, hip labral tear, and pubic osteitis.

Findings:

  • Similar clinical presentations can mask diverse underlying pathologies in athletes with groin pain.
  • Diagnostic evaluation is essential to differentiate between conditions like sportsman's hernia, hip labral tears, and pubic osteitis.
