[Growth-dependent changes in the shape and size of the sella turcica]
Abstract:
Growth-related changes of shape and size of the outline of the human sella from birth to 18 years of age were analysed by a longitudinal and random sample study. The growth-related changes of the contour of the sella are characterized by a wide variety of form. The size of the outline of the sella increases rapidly from birth to two years of age (approximately equal to 119%; 12.9 mm----28.0 mm (means], and thereafter continually and steadily--without any proven pubertal influence--to its final size and shape.
