Thyroid function, specifically thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (FT4) levels, is linked to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in the general population. These thyroid markers are independent risk factors for NAFLD, even within normal ranges.
