- Ten patients (4%) died, 5 of whom were elderly (≥ 75 years) and involved in low-energy trauma.
Conclusions:
- Both low- and high-energy MMS crashes can result in severe injuries and fatalities.
- Multidisciplinary teams must be aware of potential underestimation of injury severity in MMS crash victims.
- Enhanced driver training is recommended to reduce the incidence of MMS crashes.
